What we all want is a diet that we enjoy instead of one that we endure, usually waiting for the happy day we have reached our target weight so we can resume eating all the things we like. Of course, that means we usually put on all the weight we lost plus more. So is there an alternative? According to Paul Rivas M.D., author of The Cheater's Diet, there is. Dr Rivas is a physician specialising in weight loss. He says, "...I'm concerned with more than getting my patients into smaller clothing sizes—their health is always my first concern." How is this diet different? You take the weekend off! Monday to Friday you follow the Cheater's Diet plan but on Saturday and Sunday you can eat what you like including chocolate and pizza. Dr Rivas argues that our bodies adapt to traditional diets whether they are low carb, low fat or low calories. Our metabolism slows down so eventually we stop losing weight. The Cheater's Diet, he contends, stops our bodies becoming habituated to reduced food intake. This all sounds too good to be true but reading the book shows that the Doctor gives very sensible advice, much of it omitted from other diet books. Do you wonder about the role of appetite suppressant drugs? Dr Rivas provides the facts. What about exercise? Here you learn that it doesn't necessarily lead directly to weight loss but it does have a part to play. There is also a two week menu plan together with recipes for the dishes listed. This is an excellent book for dieters containing expert information and the sensible and practical advice expected from a doctor specialising in weight loss. Quick Facts Title: The
