Not only are they low fat, these apples contribute towards your recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Per portion, they contain 61 calories, 1.62g fat and 0.42g saturated fat.

Ingredients
4 medium sized cooking apples
1 tbs clear honey
grated rind and juice of one lemon
1 tbs low fat spread

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 350 deg F (180 deg C).

2. Don't peel the apples! Core them, remove about 8 thin strips of skin (about a 1/4 in in width) from top to bottom of the apples.

3. Place the apples in a baking dish.

4. Mix the honey, lemon rind and juice with the low fat spread.

5. Put the mixture into the apples in the holes left by the removal of the cores.

6. Cover with foil and bake for about 40 minutes or until soft. Serve with a low fat custard or low fat yoghurt - calories and fat count for this need to be added to those for the apples.
